Transfer News: Manchester United to offer £65M for Belgian superstar
Manchester United has been reportedly sent off the tracks regarding their pursuit of Welsh superstar Gareth Bale in the January transfer window. This has allowed the Manchester club to turn towards unsettled Eden Hazard.
Bayern Munich and Paris St-Germain are the other clubs linked with the Belgian superstar and the suited officials of Old Trafford have to fight it out to get Hazard’s signature.
Eden Hazard is having one of his worst seasons in Chelsea colours and reports circulate that the Belgian has already decided to leave Stamford Bridge.
“The club has to be realistic and realise that signing Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo remains a long shot, which means alternative targets come into the equation. Eden Hazard is certainly one of those and the type of player United need if they want to start winning trophies again,” A Manchester United source said, according to Daily Star.
It is reported that United owners the Glazer family has given the green light to vice-chairman Ed Woodward to try and capture Hazard with an offer of around £250,000 (AU $518,237) per week.
Amidst all the uncertainty surrounding the superstar, Chelsea hopes that their legend Didier Drogba will be able to persuade his former teammate Hazard to stay with the Premier League champions.
It is known that Gareth Bale has been United’s top transfer priority. However, it is unlikely that Real Madrid would like to do business with the Manchester club after the failed transfer of David De Gea last summer.
Manchester United is in need of a marquee transfer and Hazard fits the bill perfectly. Hence, it is now upon the Old Trafford boss Louis Van Gaal to make sure that United qualify for Champions League in order to boost the chances of landing Hazard.
The 24-year-old wants to compete in the club football’s elite competition and will wait till next summer before arriving on to a decision regarding his next move.
Hazard has struggled to find his form this season and is yet to score a goal for Chelsea, but still remains one of the premier transfer prospects in world football.
