Mario Gotze, who has been rumoured for a transfer in the January window, has denied the speculations that he is leaving his current squad, Bayern Munich and move to the Jurgen Klopp-led Liverpool in the English Premier League (EPL).

A German newspaper reported earlier this week that Klopp stated that he is interested in acquiring Gotze, whom he handled at Borussia Dortmund in previous years.

The 23-year-old Gotze has now debunked those rumours, saying that he “has not heard anything” from his former coach with regards to the transfer, as confirmed by ESPN.com.

"Everything is still open. We will see how things go at the end of the season," Gotze said to Sport Bild last Friday. "I have a contract until June 2017. But of course, it is important how the new coach feels about me. The coach's plans are decisive in the end.”

With the recent statement in a press conference over the weekend, Gotze is now saying that he wants to stay and a January transfer is not an option at the moment. Gotze has struggled to make the starting line-up at Bayern Muncich about two years after he joined the club for €37 million (AU $58.13 million).

The midfielder from Memmingen, Germany played for Borussia Dortmund from 2009 to 2013 when he had 22 goals in 83 appearances.

With Bayern Munich, he has played in 66 matches and has produced 20 goals. Gotze has been part of the German national team since 2007 playing for the youth squads until 2009 and joining the senior team in 2010. He has 48 caps for Germany and had 16 goals for his country.
