They promised us death, and death they gave us. “True Blood” has been hinting about killing off a major character even before the sixth season began in June. And now, they have made good on that promise, putting out a beloved character who has been in the show for a long time.

Warning, though, big spoiler for the sixth episode “Don’t You Feel Me” is below. So for those who haven’t watched the latest episode yet and don’t want it spoiled, don’t read any further.

Terry Bellefleur, the Iraq war veteran and cousin to Detective Andy Bellefleur, was the latest casualty in the show where there’s always someone dying in every episode. The only difference is that Terry (Todd Lowe) is well-loved and has been with the show since second season.

“It sucked!” Chris complained in a previous interview with eonline.com, not revealing that his character was the one being killed off. “When you get used to being around somebody and get to know them both as their character and who they are, it’s just not fair to see them go.”

And the whole cast agreed. Joe Manganiello, who plays werewolf Alcide Herveaux, also said that they were all “really sad” during the table read of the episode.

Even Alexander Skarsgard, one of the main characters (Eric Northman), was emotional when he was asked about the death, describing it as “very emotional.”

The good thing about Terry’s death, however, was that he was able to be at peace at last. After being glamoured by a vampire, under his wife Arlene’s (Carrie Preston) request, he forgot about all his troubles, and finally living (albeit very shortly) happier than before.

Unfortunately, he also forgot asking a friend to kill him without warning. And that was the end of him.

And as Arlene sang him a lullaby while he lay dying, the viewers could almost hear the unmistakable sound of their hearts breaking.

Elsewhere on the show are Sookie (Anna Paquin) and the faerie-vampire Warlow (Rob Kazinsky) hiding out in the faerie world, with Sookie getting the hots for her parents’ killer. Oh, and her dad’s spirit possessed Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) to kill her since he failed to do so when he was alive.

Eric and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) were faced off against each other in the vampire camp. And while they’re relationship has become strained in the previous episodes, they still refused to fight each other, even teaming up to take the guards down. Eric also discovered why Tru Blood has been restored and how it is killing the entire vampire population.

Meanwhile, Bill (Stephen Moyer) used his Warlow’s blood to walk right up to Governor Burrell (Arlis Howard) during daylight. He wanted answers, which the vampire-hating politician just wouldn’t give him. So rather than torture the poor man to satisfy his curiosity, Bill just got the job done and rip Burrell’s head off.
