Two Million iPhone 6 And iPhone 6 Plus Units Were Preordered In China Within Six Hours
The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus phablet were approved by The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently. It was only after security issues related to personal data were addressed by Apple that the regulatory body allowed the Cupertino company to begin the sales of iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in China.
Starting today, leading carriers from China such as China Mobile, China Unicorn and China Telecom have started receiving preorders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets. PhoneArena claims that Apple will start with the preorders of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on Oct 10 and the official release date is set to Oct 17.
A Chinese website, Feng, has reported that within six hours of making the new iPhone 6 models available in China, all the three leading carriers of China have, together, managed to achieve two million sales. A similar kind of result was achieved in the first ten countries where the iPhone 6 was rolled out on Sept 12. Within a day of starting with the preorders, 4 million units were sold.
One needs to be aware of the fact that China has more than 1.2 billion mobile users. Hence, China is the largest smartphone market in the world.
According to GSMArena, the initial preorder reports indicate that most people are more interested in purchasing the 64 GB of both the iPhone 6 handsets. The 64 GB iPhone 6 in China is priced at CNY 6,088 (which is equivalent to $991) and the 64 GB iPhone 6 Plus in China can be availed for CNY 6,888 (which is equivalent to $1,122).
In China, smartphone brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei, Lenovo and Samsung are leading the market, states PhoneArena. Apple has to compete with these brands in China where large-sized smartphones are very popular. There is an advantage for iPhone lovers in China because this time Apple has launched 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, which are bigger than all the previous editions of iPhones.
