Tyler Posey slams reports he’s leaving ‘Teen Wolf’
Reports of Tyler Posey having less screen time in future seasons of “Teen Wolf” and potentially leaving the show had fans reeling in shock. Fortunately, the actor was on hand to clarify that he’s not leaving the series.
The reports started when the MTV series’ showrunner Jeff Davis told The Hollywood Reporter, or THR, last month that he was unsure if “Teen Wolf” will wrap up after Season 6. Davis also mentioned how he would “love for someone else to take over the show.” The showrunner even said, “If it still has life, if there's still stories to tell, that would be great — [to] see maybe Dylan Sprayberry take over the role of the Teen Wolf and see Tyler Posey move into more of a Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin) role. That would be the Degrassi High version.”
Although Davis didn’t not outright mention that Posey’s character, Scott, would have less participation in the future seasons, his comments sparked speculations of less screen time for the actor, especially if the show follows the “Degrassi High” model, Seventeen.com stated. The “Degrassi High” TV franchise reportedly featured appearances of older versions of the original cast in latter seasons, and the focus of the series also shifted as the show progressed.
To address the fans’ growing fears, Posey took to Twitter on Sept. 10 and denied the reports, according to J-14 magazine. Posey wrote, “Teen wolf is my baby and I would never leave.” What’s good it that MTV has also responded to the reports by leaving a heart-shaped emoji on Posey’s Twitter post.
Meanwhile, MTV has already renewed “Teen Wolf” for a sixth season, although the team is currently focused on Season 5B. Davis told THR that that the first part of Season 5B would be Posey’s Scott trying to draw his friends back to the pack to help Lydia (Holland Roden) get out from Eichen House and “stop what's going to potentially kill all the people they love.”
Davis teased that Season 5B will feature a “big” and “epic” storyline, wherein the theme will be “resurrection.”
“Teen Wolf” Season 5B is set to return on the small screen in January 2016.
