UEFA Champions League 2013 Matchday 2: Arsenal FC vs. SSC Napoli Preview; Ambition and Humility is Key for Gunners; Live Online Streaming
Arsenal FC boss Arsene Wenger emphasised that home form may play a decisive factor to advance from the group stages as they host SSC Napoli on Tuesday on matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League.
"Our home form will be important because we have taken three points away from home [beating Olympique de Marseille on matchday one]," Wenger told uefa.com.
"We know that away from home we have good strengths as well, so I believe that our home form against all the three teams will certainly make the decision."
The right mixture of ambition and humility could sustain the Gunners' form, who are sitting at the top of the Premier League table with 15 points and have won on matchday 1 of the Champions League.
"Ambition because of course we want to win, but humility as well because we know we have only played six games so to speak today about the title is ridiculous," he added.
"But what we have done is what we want to do - continue to have the best ambition, but I think the team has a good humility and we are conscious that we want to improve."
The Gunners are coming off a 2-1 win against Swansea City FC on Saturday in the Premier League wherein promising in-form midfielder Aaron Ramsey scored goal.
Theo Walcott (abdominal muscle), Santi Cazorla (ankle), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), Abou Diaby (knee), Lukas Podolski (hamstring) and Yaya Sanogo (back) are all absentees due to injuries, while Tomas Rosicky is already available but may not be named as a starter.
By contrast, Napoli boss Rafael Benitez knows he needs to keep his team's emotions controlled as they are facing an in-form Arsenal squad.
"It's the opposite thing [to the first game] - now we need to control the euphoria, we are going to play against a top side and we must show character, strength [and also] respect to a team that is top of the league and playing very well," said Benitez.
Benitez praised Wenger as "a great manager, a great person" who he thinks is the "top coach" in the Premier League.
He jokingly said that he hopes Wenger can win the Champions League someday, although not this year.
The Partenopei won their Serie A clash, 2-0, against Genoa on Saturday with Gordan Pandev scoring a brace.
Christian Maggio is out with injuries, while Gonzalo Higuain and Raul Albiol's condition will be monitored after incurring mild thigh injuries.
