Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin believes that an Arsenal defeat on Wednesday could bid their chances, of advancing to the next round of the UEFA Champions League, goodbye.

"Arsenal? If we defeat them this week I see it being very complicated for them to make the next round of the Champions League," Sahin told Sky Sports.

The Turkish international brushed-off suggestions that Dortmund won their away leg against the Gunners by sheer luck.

"Our win in the Emirates was justified, it was not easy or by luck - we were runners-up last season and we play every match with the same intensity," he insisted.

"We knew Arsenal would be more compact than us, but we stopped their key players."

While the English side is difficult to contain, Sahin revealed that limiting their attacking opportunities has helped Borussia control the tempo of the ballgame.

"Arsenal are very offensive but their power is reduced if you can stop their creativity, that was our success in the first match and now we need to repeat the situation," he said.

"The Gunners are not your typical English club, for me they are more European with a style like Spanish and German teams."

Sahin has had a rather forgettable experience in England, when he was loaned out from Real Madrid to Liverpool.

He featured only 10 times for the Reds, while complaining that he was not utilized in his natural position by Brendan Rodgers.

"Brendan Rodgers wanted me to play as a number 10. But I do not play behind the strikers. I talked to him and asked him why he was playing me there. It is not my real position. The coach could not answer me ... Still, no regrets," he disclosed to goal.com.

Nevertheless, he is happy with his current situation - back to the club where everything began for Nuri.

"I did not have a happy experience in the Premier League, in Liverpool I did not get many chances, but that is in the past and I only think about Borussia Dortmund."
