Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, reigning women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey let it slip that her fierce rival Meisha Tate is set to tackle Jessica Eye next in June, part of the slate for June. The tentative matchup with determine the number one contender for the Rousey’s belt and probably ensure a future championship matchup with whoever holds the women’s bantamweight belt.

Rousey is set to fly to Rio de Janeiro in August to battle fellow undefeated mixed martial arts fighter Bethe Correia in what she dubs to be the “Rocky IV” stage of her career. “Rowdy” is looking to avenge her Four Horsewomen teammates Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke, reminiscent on how the fictional Rocky Balboa travelled to Russia to seek retribution for his fallen friend Apollo Creed. Rousey adds that if she succeeds in her next endeavour, she might be meeting the winner of the Tate-Eye bout, which could happen later in the year.

“Let’s say when I beat Bethe (Correia), we’re also going to have Miesha Tate versus Jessica Eye, and I think I’ll be fighting the winner of that after I beat Bethe,” the champ let it slip during a news conference in Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanazinho Gym where UFC Fight Night 62 will also take place.

Rousey along with her newest challenger Correia took part in the promotion of the Aug. 1 fight that was also attended by Tate herself, who is hoping at a third crack at Rousey. The American Tate holds the sole distinction as the only woman contender to last more than one round with the reigning champion. She has begun her ascent once more in the rankings by winning three straight against some of the fighters Rousey disposed herself recently such as Liz Carmouche and Sara McMann. “Cupcake” is hoping to avenge her two submission losses with Rousey, one with Strikeforce and the other in the UFC.

Eye, on the other hand, is a new acquisition of the UFC after spending some time with Bellator. She picked up her first win against Leslie Smith at UFC 180 and is looking to improve upon her professional record of eleven wins and two losses with seven of those victories coming through knockouts.
