UFO-Sculpture Built To Mark Rendlesham UFO Incident; To Be Installed At Forest Site
A UFO-sculpture has been built which will be installed at the Rendlesham Forest, a large pine forest in England, where an alleged landing of a UFO took place. The 'Rendlesham UFO Incident' is considered one of the biggest UFO mysteries in the United Kingdom.
According to BBC, there were many reports of a UFO landing in the Rendlesham Forest near a United States Air Force base in December 1980. A metal interpretation of it, commemorating the alleged sightings, has been made by the Forestry Commission. They said that the structure was impartial and they weren't looking to solve the mystery.
The design of the sculpture was designed by Olivia English and was based on the sketches and sightings of the UFO in the forest by the servicemen. She said that the design was about trying to find a middle ground, creating an interpretation. She added that there was no secret code and the symbols on the side of the UFO was art.
The incident is also known as 'Britain's Roswell' and is considered one of the best-documented encounters with a UFO, reported a Web site dedicated to the incident. The Web site was created with a goal to educate the future generations about the incident.
The United State Air Force as well as the security police were witness to the incident. Many sightings were reported from the location.
The incident began on Dec 26, 1980 and spanned a period of three days. The forest was close to the bases of NATO, RAF Bentwaters and Woodbridge which were at that time leased to the United States Air Force.
The USAF security men who were then on duty described the object as being metallic and triangular, with a base of around two to three meters. They said that a white light had illuminated the forest and red lights were seen on top and blue on the bottom.
About 12 years ago, in November 2002, the 'Rendlesham File' was released by the British Ministry of Defence, which confirmed the incident.
In an interview with ABC in 2005, Sergent James Penniston said, "What I once believed is no more, and what I've witnessed, defies all that I have ever imagined. I am truly in awe over the whole incident, and no one can fully understand the magnitude, of such an event, unless you were there."
