Waiting for pizza to arrive can be a drag. When people want pizza, they want it delivered fast. That’s why Domino’s Pizza is flying pizzas to their customers. The UK franchise of the pizza company has tested its “DomiCopter,” a custom-built flying device that delivers pizza by air.

Working with creative agency T + Biscuits and drone specialist AeroSight, Domino’s UK has created a drone prototype with eight spinning blades that transports two large boxes of pizzas to customers.

Since the drone flies only up to 126 metres off the ground, it doesn’t need flying licenses, only the permission of the landowner is required, according to Fox News.

A video posted by the company on YouTube shows the test delivery of the drone to its subject. The flying delivery device made its 10-minute flight through the city of Guildford, outside of London.

“If anything it went quicker than a pizza boy,” Tom Hatton, founder of T + Biscuits told NBC News. “We were amazed at how easy it was going to be.”

The DomiCopter isn’t available in Australia, though, or even in the UK where the test was done, at least for now. Domino’s and the agency likely released the video of the delivery more for publicity than for actual deployment of pizza delivery drones, NBC said.

Still, they are “looking at making flying pizzas a possibility,” Hatton said, adding, “We’re serious about it.”

After its successful first delivery, DomiCopter has been sent back to Domino’s UK headquarters for further testing. Domino’s said it wants to increase the load capacity of the drone so it can carry more items than just 2 large pizzas at a time.

This isn’t the first time a food company has come up with a drone for their delivery service.

Last year, TacoCopter was announced in the U.S. And while the concept was exciting, it was quickly shot down since the U.S. government prohibited using unmanned aircrafts for commercial purposes.
