‘Uncharted 4’ gets new delay and release date, multiplayer open weekend coming as compensation
“Uncharted” fans will need to mark a new date. Naughty Dog’s last installment, “Uncharted 4,” is now slated for a May 10 release date instead.
The developer has confirmed the new date, stating that the additional two weeks was needed to ensure enough copies of the game for a worldwide launch. Still, according to IGN, the developer is confident that the game is worth the wait despite its numerous delays.

The delay is only to add more time for manufacturing time. This is contrary to what some may have expected, following the sighting of a new mo-cap photo that shows what could still be production time for “Uncharted 4” last February.
While this is technically another delay, which adds to the other times that the game has been pushed back, this is a shorter time period. Additionally, it does deal with the possibility of any shortage of copies for the game to avoid other issues down the road of the launch.
To appease the masses of the slightly shorter delay, Naughty Dog has already confirmed a multiplayer open weekend starting this Friday, March 4. The event is meant to ensure a smoother multiplayer launch for “Uncharted 4.”
“We need your help to do all we can to have a smooth launch of our online multiplayer mode. We will be hosting a multiplayer open weekend this weekend where the goal is to get as many people as possible playing in the ‘Uncharted 4’ multiplayer mode to test our networking, our matchmaking and more,” said Naughty Dog via the PlayStation Blog Europe.
The open multiplayer weekend will start on March 4, 5:00 p.m. GMT and will end on March 7 at 7:59 p.m. GMT. The great thing about this open multiplayer weekend is that players will not be restricted with a PS plus subscription, as Naughty Dog is looking to expand the player base to include more participants.
For those who are interested, the “Uncharted 4” multiplayer open weekend client is already available at the PlayStation Store. It is already available for preloading, so that the game is ready for play once the servers go live on Friday.
As what usually happens with stress tests, whatever will be showcased in the multiplayer will not necessarily be what the final game will offer. Also happening on Friday and Saturday are some live streams from Naughty Dog. The full schedule is yet to be announced, but fans can tune in to the official Naughty Dog Twitch page.
