The CBS new science fiction horror, Under the Dome 2013, has continued to make buzz since it made its summer premiere on June 24, 2013, Sunday, 10pm ET. Its strong performance week after week since its summer premiere is likely to change the game on television.

Based on the novel by Stephen King of the same title, the new series had raked in more than 13 million viewers on its opening night, an additional 3.2 million viewers were estimated to have caught up in DVR. Citing Nielsen, the Huffington Post noted that CBS reran Sunday, June 30, still had come out strong with 5.1 million viewers. The series popularity continues to skyrocket in its second episode last week, July 1, Monday, was not so bad either with 11.5 million viewers.

Looking at the bigger scheme of things, the show’s success could be attributed to the different elements put together in Under the Dome. But the storyline and the TV screenplay, as well as other technicalities, including cinematography, will not be possible without the new faces the show has to offer.

Under the Dome has been created by Brian K. Vaughan with Stephen King. Vaughn serves as executive producers for the CBS series and they work in the same capacity as Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Jack Bender, Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider. The pilot episode was produced was helmed by Danish director Niels Arden Oplev.

Under the Dome is in its third episode for Season one on July 8, 2013, aired on CBS, 10pm ET.
