Ms Brandt, 45, was the Playmate of the Month in October 1987 and the cover girl in August 1989.
She did not apply for bail or entered a plea and was remanded in custody. Her trial, to start in December, is for accusation that she is part of a group engaged in cocaine importation by hiding cocaine packages on Qantas and United Airlines jets in the California-Sydney route.
The syndicate has tie-ups with an airline catering company whose employees collect the packages in Sydney. The former Playboy model allegedly conspired with the syndicate to import a large quantity of cocaine worth $120,000 between July and December 2007 at Sydney airport.
Included in the charge are Rusty Setser, a Crusty Demons motorcycle stunman and her former boyfriend, who was also extradited to Sydney from LA in October.
Ms Brandt was married to Nikki Sixx, the bassist of Motley Crue.
