Bruce Jenner’s emotional transition from male to female has sparked various reactions from his family, friends, and the community. Some reacted violently to him focusing on his new existence as a woman, some had chosen to keep their opinions to themselves, while there are those who commended him for his bravery, just like actress Uzo Aduba.

"I thought he was remarkably brave, open and honest," she told E! News during the Verizon HopeLine’s Domestic Violence Program event in New York City. "He lived his truth." She also added that she was encouraged to see Jenner’s family as his main supportive base, especially his children, his mother and his sister. Uzo said that the family was unwavering in giving him utmost support and love.

The “Orange is the New Black” star also explained why she opted to be an advocate against domestic abuse, sharing that the issue was a “quiet disease” that no one knows when it’s happening of the time. She decided to lend her voice in raising awareness about the said issue because she believed that it was a responsibility that everyone should “bring to the surface.”

Jenner also recently got himself a new supporter -- Rick Santorum. According to People, the former senator was very vocal about comparing same-sex marriages to bestiality and pedophilia and was utterly against expanding LGBT rights, which was why it was quite surprising when he said that he loves and accepts Jenner’s decision to be woman. “If he says he’s a woman, then he’s a woman,” he said.

Other celebrities who gave their support for Jenner’s transition include Oprah Winfrey, Laverne Cox, Ellen DeGeneres, Sam Smith and Larry King, among others, Pop Sugar stated. Lady Gaga also told fans in a tweet that Jenner’s journey was a chance to empower people who had struggled to identify themselves and that they deserved love and backing up, not trash talk.

Late last month, 65-year-old Jenner confirmed his gender transition in a two-hour emotional interview with Diane Sawyer. The widely watched “20/20” episode was the last interview Jenner would give as “Bruce,” as he would be emerging as “her” from then on.

Jenner’s family and friends and even the LGBT community, responded with an outpouring of love and support. Kris Kardashian called him her “hero” after his brutally honest story, but also expressed her dismay at what she had to go through in light of her husband coming out as a woman.
