A big secret has been revealed in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5, Episode 20 titled "What Lies Beneath." Additionally, Markos (Raffi Barsoumian) did not waste any time in finding doppelgangers Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) in order to break the curse on the Travellers.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5, Episode 20 "What Lies Beneath." Hybrid Tyler (Michael Trevino) escaped from the Travellers while pretending to be Julian, the Passenger inhabiting his body.

At the Salvatore mansion, Luke (Chris Brochu) tried to help Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in finding Enzo (Michael Malarkey) but Luke notices there is something weird about the appearance of Damon's buddy making it hard for him to make the locator spell work. Stefan simply asked Damon to just drop his search for his best friend.

Then, Tyler arrived at the Salvatore mansion to tell that the Travellers are on the move and ready to complete their plan on the doppelgangers. Damon, Stefan and Elena head to a secluded cabin owned by Caroline's (Candice Accola) dad to hide from the Travellers with a little help from Luke.

Bonnie (Kat Graham) is having a hard time pretending nothing is wrong on the Other Side. "Grams" (Jasmine Guy) appears before Bonnie again, this time capable of knocking a lamp over, asking her granddaughter to tell boyfriend Jeremy (Steven R McQueen) the truth as soon as possible.

Jeremy, Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler go on a mission to fish out information from Passenger Julian on where they could find Markos. Unfortunately, Julian does not know where Markos is but he wants his body to be found before the Travellers make him a permanent Passenger in Tyler's body.

Meanwhile, Markos is not in a good mood after finding out that Tyler has escaped. He instructed his Travellers that he wants find the doppelgangers and Julian's wife as well to find her husband's body and perform the spell that would make him permanent in Tyler's body.

At the cabin, Luke was busy performing a cloaking spell to hide the doppelgangers while Stefan, Elena, Caroline and Damon entertained themselves by playing charade. However, a bored Damon decided to change the game to something called "Never Have I Ever."

Things started to get sour when Caroline stated that she has never kissed a Salvatore brother while Damon stated that he has never lied about where Enzo is. Elena, obviously avoiding the topic, excused herself and prepared a bath before going to bed.

Enzo's ghost attacked Elena and tried to drown her but Elena managed to call out to Damon who arrived at the bathroom seconds later. Elena finally told Damon the truth at the same time that Caroline found out that Enzo is dead while eavesdropping on Stefan's conversation with Bonnie over the phone.

It turns out Enzo's plan to drown Elena was only a distraction and Damon, Caroline and Stefan step outside to see that Luke is missing. With that, Markos was able to locate where the doppelgangers are.

Jeremy and Bonnie head to the creepy cave where the Travellers bodies are to find Julian's body but Julian's wife arrived. The couple had no power to defeat the Travellers who succeeded in taking away Julian's body and making him a permanent Passenger in Tyler's body.

Damon and Stefan found Luke tied up in Enzo's gasoline-soaked trap. The ghost villain managed to set the place on fire and stab the Salvatore brothers as part of his revenge but Damon convinced his buddy that he can bring him back after pointing out that Bonnie and Markos came back. "I can find a way," Damon assured.

After Enzo's attack, Stefan apologized to Damon for keeping Enzo's death a secret and Damon's fair response was punching Stefan's face. Another one-on-one talk that Stefan had is with gal best friend Caroline who expressed hurt and jealousy over Stefan and Elena's secrecy.

Stefan explained that the reason why he did not tell Caroline about Enzo's death is because he did not want her to think less of him. Stefan told Caroline that he will be waiting for her by the car and while he was walking away, he sensed that someone is nearby.

As for Damon and Elena, the two also discussed about the secrecy on Enzo's death. Elena explained that she did not tell Damon about it because she was worried he would spiral out of control again.

However, Damon said that despite feeling angry for what happened to his friend, he chose not to kill innocent people for Elena. Damon further revealed that being with and without Elena is driving him nuts and decided to kiss her because he was having a crappy day before walking away to leave Elena alone.

Then, Elena started to wince in pain as the Travellers approached with their chant and Markos grabbed her by the neck. "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 returns with Episode 21 titled "Promised Land" on Thursday night, May 8, at 8 pm ET on the CW Network.
