The intensity on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 continues with the mid-season episode finale titled "Fifty Shades of Grayson." The extended promo video for upcoming Episode 10 shows Dr Wes Maxfield (Rick Cosnett) telling Enzo (Michael Malarkey) that he and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) have some catching up to do which will make the Salvatore vampire learn about the cost of his decades-old revenge plan.

The episode synopsis in the She Knows Entertainment report reads: "Damon (Ian Somerhalder) realizes Elena (Nina Dobrev) is in danger and enlists Stefan's (Paul Wesley) help to find her. The brothers pay a visit to Aaron (guest star Shaun Sipos), and Damon shocks Stefan by revealing his first-hand knowledge of Aaron's family. In an attempt to stop Damon, Dr. Wes (guest star Rick Cosnett) unleashes his secret weapon, forcing Damon to deal with a part of his past he thought was gone forever, as well as the consequences of his decades-long plan for revenge. Meanwhile, Elena is horrified by Dr. Wes' confessions about the dark history of Whitmore College and his own ultimate goal. Finally, a frantic Katherine (Nina Dobrev) turns to Matt (Zach Roerig) for help, until she realizes that Nadia (guest star Olga Fonda) may be the one who can solve her problem."

With the shocking twist and turns in the "Vampire Diaries" Season 5 story, the WetPaint report claims Damon's relationship with Elena Gilbert may be put to the test after she found out about Damon's killing spree while they were dating. TV Guide had the viewers guessing who among the TVD characters were mentioned in the spoiler report.

"Two of these things are true and one is a lie. In the next batch of episodes... 1) There will be a major breakup; 2) A fan-favorite character will say goodbye for good and 3) Someone will pull a body switcheroo," reads the TV Guide spoiler report.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5, Episode 10 "Fifty Shades of Grayson" airs on Thursday night, December 12, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW network. The TVD gang will be on a holiday break and the scheduled return of the TV series is on January 23, 2014 with its 100th episode titled "500 Years of Solitude."
