Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) appears to be a tortured character in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 after all of the unfortunate events that he dealt with: almost dying, amnesia and losing Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) to Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). A video clip for Episode 8 "Dead Man on Campus" has been released and it shows Stefan haunted with his memories.

In the video clip, Stefan remembers the time when he was all tied up, locked up and drowning and the nightmare is becoming hard for him to bear. The troubled vampire showed no interest as well when it comes to Elena or her event.

Another issue that Stefan must deal with is his relationship with Damon. A Cartermatt.com report points out that Stefan and Damon have no choice but to try functioning as brothers despite having Elena as the elephant in the room.

Furthermore, the Damon-Elena relationship could be the reason why Stefan decided not to go to Whitmore College. Losing Elena to Damon is already tormenting Stefan, but seeing his ex-girlfriend happy with Damon will be another form of nightmare for him so distancing himself seemed like a reasonable option.

Details on the other upcoming "TVD" Season 5 episodes hint crazy story twists with still images from Episode 9 "The Cell" and Episode 10 "Fifty Shades of Grayson" available in a Hypable report. Characters with mysterious connections to Elena or the Salvatore brothers continue to surface like Aaron Maxfield (Shaun Sipos) and the Augustine vampire.

A WetPaint report claims actor Michael Malarkey, who portrays Damon's old friend Enzo, could be a fitting candidate for the mysterious Augustine Society vampire after Deadline reported in October that Mr Malarkey will have a major recurring role as the charming-yet-tortured figure from Damon's past named Enzo.

No information was available on the Augustine vampire at the time of the casting announcement though. However, the events unfolding in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 had speculations running wild that Enzo could be the mysterious vampire in question.

Enzo's connection and friendship with Damon Salvatore in the past indicates that he has existed for quite some time now so teaming up with a secret society is a possibility. "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 airs Thursday nights at 8 pm ET on the CW Network.
