TVD's executive producer Caroline Dries revealed some details about character Tessa to TV Guide. Ms Dries shared that Tessa is "a beautiful and exotic self-assured woman who comes to town to rekindle an old flame."
"Tessa has a definite flair for fun. But she has a tendency to hold a grudge. You don't want to cross her," the executive producer added, further teasing viewers. Actress Janina Gavankar of "True Blood" will now join the "Vampire Diaries" cast as Tessa.

Actor Paul Wesley, who portrays Stefan Salvatore/Silas, has divulged spoiler details for his characters in "Vampire Diaries" Season 5. "[There's] temptation to sort of make Silas wildly different, and I didn't want to make him all of a sudden have some weird accent or walk differently just for the sake of differentiating them," Mr Wesley shared to Jim Halterman of TV Fanatic during an interview.
The actor added that he faced "a lot of challenges" in dealing with his different characters onscreen like noting their similarities and differences. Mr Wesley talked about what is in store for the other "Vampire Diaries" characters like Damon and Elena as well.
"She doesn't have the same pizazz. She's a mere mortal... like us!," Paul Wesley shared with a laugh regarding Elena's doppelganger named Katherine transforming into a human being. On the other hand, the 31-year-old actor mentioned a "power shift" and "dynamic changes" between Silas and Damon Salvatore.
In Season 5, Paul Wesley revealed that Damon Salvatore, portrayed by actor Ian Somerhalder, becomes the one who will be treated like a little brother. "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 is set to premiere on October 3 at the CW television network.
