The premiere episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 revealed what the characters have been up to after losing Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham). Now, the CW TV series returns with episode 2 titled "Yellow Ledbetter" that focuses on what happened to Damon and Bonnie when the Other Side collapsed and whether Alaric (Matt Davis) succeeded in erasing Elena's (Nina Dobrev) memories of loving Damon.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 2 titled "Yellow Ledbetter."

After the bright white light on the Other Side engulfed Damon and Bonnie, the two wondered what happened and where they really went even though they are still in Mystic Falls. Damon and Bonnie appear to be the only people in town.

While walking around, Damon and Bonnie notices the weird cars around them and stops in front of Elena's not-so-burnt-to-a-crisp house. Damon picks up the newspaper and sees the date printed on it which is May 10, 1994.

Damon and Bonnie went back in time and the worst part is they have to relive the date over and over again like they are in hell. Even though Damon and Bonnie bicker and banter most of the time, the two still works together in figuring out the word in the puzzle that Bonnie tries to solve every day, the reason why they were brought back to that date and how stop reliving it over and over again.

As for Elena and Alaric, the two begin with the compelling process of erasing Elena's memories of loving Damon. "Who is Damon Salvatore?" Alaric kept asking Elena but she always responds with "He was my boyfriend, I loved him and he died."

Alaric is having a hard time erasing Damon from Elena's memories because Elena could not give him the signature moment when she knew that she loved Damon. Alaric told Caroline (Candice Accola) about his problem with Elena and the blonde vampire revealed that Elena fell in love with Damon while she was still with Stefan.

Alaric confronted Elena about the signature moment and explained that the only reason why she is having a hard time accepting it is because she feels like she betrayed Stefan. Elena finally revealed that she knew she loved Damon during her birthday. Afterwards, Alaric altered Elena's memory of that day and when he asked her who is Damon Salvatore, Elena responded that he was Stefan's (Paul Wesley) brother, he was a monster and he died.

Meanwhile, Caroline got upset because no one is doing something to help Damon and Bonnie but Alaric told her that there is still someone who does and that someone is Enzo (Michael Malarkey). Caroline finally locates Enzo and the two go on a trip that ended in Stefan's home in Savannah, Georgia.

Ivy (Emily Chang) and Stefan were supposed to have dinner together but Enzo and Caroline arrived. The four had an awkward dinner that ended up with Stefan and Enzo fighting because he gave up on finding his brother, Stefan and Caroline in an argument because he abandoned his friends and Enzo breaking Ivy's neck because Stefan hurt Caroline's feelings.

At Mystic Falls, Matt (Zach Roerig) finds out that Sarah (Gabrielle Walsh) is with Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) at the Lockwood mansion. Later on, Tripp (Colin Ferguson) tells Matt that Sarah is a car thief.

Sarah explained that she did steal the car but only to get to Mystic Falls to find her father. Matt called Tripp to tell him about Sarah looking for her dad but Tripp thinks she is still lying.

Then, Tripp revealed to Matt that he was born and raised in Mystic Falls and his family, the Fells, is one of the founding families in town. Aside from being a member of the community protection service, Tripp is busy hunting supernatural creatures and drives them to Mystic Falls to kill them with the still-active anti-magic boundary spell.

The ending scene showed Damon and Bonnie having a meal and then Damon notices that Bonnie answered the crossword puzzle with "Yellow Ledbetter." Bonnie revealed that she did not finish the puzzle and Damon responded that he also did not finish the puzzle. "There's someone else here," Bonnie stated.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 returns Thursday night, Oct. 16, with episode 3 titled "Welcome to Paradise" on the CW Network.
