'Vampire Diaries' Season 6, Episode 9 'I Alone' Recap/Spoilers: Damon’s Plan To Save Bonnie Ends Badly, Stefan’s Secret About Sarah Salvatore Revealed

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is determined to bring Bonnie (Kat Graham) back in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 9 titled "I Alone" but the Salvatore vampire's plan ended badly where he hurt Elena (Nina Dobrev), Alaric (Matt Davis) and Bonnie's feelings in the process. As for Stefan (Paul Wesley), the younger Salvatore vampire finally meets the girl who is claiming to be a relative.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 9 titled "I Alone."

Damon was able to get the Ascendant after he compelled his best friend Alaric to get it from Jo (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) who keeps it safe so her psychotic brother Kai (Chris Wood) will not leave his 1994 prison. However, Kai got everything he needed in order to escape so he is now out in the present day ready to pick up where he left off which is to kill his other siblings, merge with his twin sister Jo and become the leader of the Gemini Coven.

Elena finally tells Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) the good news about Bonnie. Elena was expecting Jeremy to be happy but her younger brother thinks that Damon's plan is another dead promise to help someone.

At the Lockwood mansion, Tyler (Michael Trevino) wants Liv (Penelope Mitchell) to stay so she can be safe from her "crazy-ass witch family" while Sarah (Gabrielle Walsh) tells Matt (Zach Roerig) that it is time for her to meet her Salvatore relatives.

Liv meets up with Damon and Elena at the cemetery to help the two with their plan of bringing Bonnie back. Liv takes the Bennett witch blood from Damon as well as the Ascendant, after declaring that she was surprised Jo would give up the key to Kai's prison, and gave her blood for Damon and Elena to drink.

Liv gave an extra vial of her blood for Bonnie. The purpose of Liv's blood is to link Damon, Elena and Bonnie to her so she can find them and bring them back home after eight hours.

In the 1994 prison, Damon and Elena look for Bonnie at the Salvatore mansion but the Bennett witch is not there. Damon decided to contact Kai through his pager in order to find out what he did to Bonnie after Elena noticed blood on one of the sofa pillows.

Enzo (Michael Malarkey) finds out that Stefan has extended family while Matt and Sarah are waiting for the Salvatore vampire to arrive. The tension between Matt and Enzo started to escalate at the mention of Tripp (Colin Ferguson), Matt's boss who died when he crossed over the Mystic Falls border because Enzo turned him into a vampire.

Stefan arrives in time to break Matt and Enzo's conflict. Then, Stefan finally meets Sarah, who claims that she is Gail and Zach Salvatore's daughter.

Back in 1994, Bonnie, who has Kai's pager after the psychotic witch left him alone in Portland, is relieved to hear Elena's voice and the news that she is coming back home. However, Damon starts to get worried with Kai being out of his prison world.

Jo confronts Alaric about the Ascendant. Alaric insists that he did not take it and he did not tell anyone about it after Jo revealed to him over their dinner date where she keeps the key.

Jo thinks Damon compelled Alaric to get the Ascendant from her but Alaric argues Damon would not do that to him because he is a friend. Jo suggests they should cross the Mystic Falls border to prove if Damon is his friend. "If you're compelled, it will go away when we walk across the border. If nothing happens, then you're right. He's your friend," Jo tells Alaric.

At the Salvatore mansion in 1994, Elena finds out what Damon really did in order to get the Ascendant. Elena gets upset and walks out on Damon after telling him that the only reason he wants to rescue Bonnie is because the witch can be his only chance to make her fall in love with him again.

Stefan and Sarah have a conversation while Enzo eavesdrops. Then, Stefan ordered milkshakes so Enzo will not hear what he will say to Sarah. Stefan tells Sarah to stand up and walk out with him smiling like nothing is wrong. "The acting part should not be too hard for you, right? I know you're lying," Stefan stated.

Kai goes to the bar where Liv works and recognizes the blonde witch after ordering a drink. When Kai started to order alcohol, Liv wanted to see some identification because he looks like a teenager.

Liv only saw the year Kai was born in his ID so he made her look again, particularly on his name and address. Liv was shocked to read her brother's name, Malachai Parker, on the ID and tried to run for her life but Kai was quick to grab her arm and steal her magic.

Liv stabbed Kai in order to get away from him and run upstairs. Kai revealed that he wanted to pick up where he left off. Fortunately, Tyler arrived in time before Kai could harm Liv and pushed her psychotic brother over.

While in Stefan's car, the girl kept insisting that she is Sarah Salvatore. However, Stefan revealed that the real Sarah Salvatore did not jump from group home to group home because she got adopted at the hospital by a great family.

Stefan further revealed that Sarah Salvatore is now in her dorm room at the university where she studies art major. When Stefan asked who she really is, the girl confessed that her name is Monique.

At the Gilbert house in 1992, Damon explained to Elena that what he is doing is really for Bonnie and not for her because Bonnie is the reason he survived and got out of the prison world. Damon and Elena decided to look inside the house while waiting for Bonnie to arrive but they were suddenly sucked out of 1994 by Liv. Tyler tells Damon and Elena that Kai is out there while Liv looked apologetic to Elena after refusing to help now that the situation is bad.

Monique confessed to Stefan that she got jealous of Sarah's great life and decided to look for her family when she found out that Sarah had no desire to meet her family. Meanwhile, Stefan reveals his secret to Monique regarding Sarah.

Stefan explained he wanted to protect Sarah so he made his brother, Damon, believe that she died. Monique was ready to leave Virginia behind after Stefan compelled her to forget everything but Enzo arrived and used the girl against Stefan to make him spill the real story.

Stefan explains that the girl is a con-artist but Enzo does not believe him. Enzo thinks the girl knows something that is why Stefan compelled her to leave. Matt asks Enzo to let the girl go but Enzo declared that Stefan's time to reveal the truth is up and then broke Monique's neck.

At the cemetery, Kai overhears Damon and Elena's conversation about Bonnie. Kai destroys the Ascendant and sets it on fire but Damon was able to hit Kai and throw him over the Mystic Falls border to strip his magic off.

Jeremy is once again disappointed that Damon's plan to bring Bonnie did not work. Matt arrives and tells Jeremy that he could channel his rage by being a vampire hunter again. Matt reveals to Jeremy his plan which is to kill Enzo.

Alaric confronts Damon about what he did and punched the Salvatore vampire twice in anger. Damon continued to feel bad with his plan's failure and the people that he hurt in the process after realizing that Bonnie will see no one at the Gilbert house porch when she arrives.

The ending scene showed Kai telling Tyler that he wants to save Liv's life even though it really sounds crazy. "Do you like making a deal with the devil?" Kai asks Tyler.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 will return with episode 10 titled "Christmas Through Your Eyes" on Thursday night, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
