"The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Caroline Dries recently shared interesting details on the new season of the hit CW TV series and one of them is the arrival of a new villain. Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and her friends as well as the TVD fans will be able to meet the new villain named Kai in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 3 titled "Welcome to Paradise."

The executive producer teased in a Hollywood Reporter interview that Elena and the rest of the gang will be dealing with the arrival of Kai in town to wreak havoc. Actor Chris Wood will portray the new villain character which Caroline Dries described as a "charismatic, charming and psychotic" person.

"He's super fun to write," Dries shared. Meanwhile, a TV Line report shared a set of photo stills for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 3.

The promo photos showed the TVD gang on an outing where Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) flirts with a new girl named Sarah, Elena tries to set up Caroline (Candice Accola) with a new guy named Marco and Stefan walking away after having a conversation with Caroline. Aside from the new villain in season 6, Caroline Dries also previewed the kind of life that the TVD characters will have when the TV series return. According to Dries, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 will kick off with a sad tone due to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie's (Kat Graham) death but the team behind the TV series found a way to revive the show so it will not have a heavy beginning.

The executive producer revealed that their solution was to have Elena inside this "happy alternate reality in her own mind." Damon and Elena are currently separated but Caroline Dries assured that their love story will still be alive and felt in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6.

It looks like the love stories of the other TVD characters will also be focused on in the brand new season. Dries teased that Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) is going to face the dilemma of being a normal guy again that goes on a normal date.

The executive producer further added that Alaric will have "a lot of emotional baggage" during his return but new character Jo (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) is going to bring Alaric's emotional side out of him. As for Tyler (Michael Trevino), the former hybrid will have his attention on Liv (Penelope Mitchell) in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6. "They're going to be a part of each other's story lines," Dries teased.

Stefan (Paul Wesley) will also have a new love interest in the brand new season but Caroline Dries teased that the writers will still continue to play on the Stefan-Caroline or "Steroline" relationship even though it is going to be a very slow process for them. "We're seeing layers of it and I don't think Caroline is realizing how deep her feelings are. She just feels hurt and lied to and ignored," the executive producer shared.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 returns on Thursday night, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network with the premiere episode titled "I'll Remember." Episode 3 titled "Welcome to Paradise" is scheduled to air on Oct. 16, 2014.
