‘Veep’ season 6 spoilers: Selina Myers trots around the globe; Trailer, release date, cast and more
One of HBO’s most popular dramas, “Veep,” has been renewed for a sixth season. The network released a new trailer on President’s Day, giving fans a glimpse of what can be expected from the series’ upcoming instalment.
The trailer offers a sneak peek at Meyer’s (Julia-Louis Dreyfuss) first venture outside politics. At the end of the show’s third season, Meyer is seen to become the president of the United States. She will use all her power to salvage her role at the White House.
Meyer was previously the vice president of the United States. However, due to some presidential scandal at the end of season 3, she became the country’s first female commander-in-chief.
In “Veep” season 5, Meyer was seen seeking to be re-elected to the presidential post. But she loses out to Laura Montez (Andrea Savage) in what has been referred to as a tie-breaking senate vote, per Entertainment Weekly.
“Veep’s” latest teaser further shows Myer making public appearances. Is that how she is trying to salvage her legacy? The former president is seen traveling and attending different events. Apparently, Myer is all determined to regain her spot at the White House and she is just getting started.
The trailer also includes some familiar characters from the series’ previous seasons. Selina Myer’s personal assistant Gary Walsh (Tony Hale) and campaign-aide Richard (Sam Richardson) are present in the trailer. Myer’s former press secretary Mike (Matt Walsh) as well is seen in the video.
Other “Veep” season 6 cast members include Anna Chlumsky, Reid Scott, Timothy Simons, Kevin Dunn and Gary Cole. The show is being co-executive produced by Dave Mandel, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Frank Rich, Lew Morton and Morgan Sackett.
“Being an ex-president is like being a man's nipple,” Meyer could be heard saying in the teaser video. “This is my second act. Selina Meyer travels the globe, spreading democracy like patient zero.”
In another scene, she audaciously shouts at her team: “I was the first female president. I will not work for less than 87 cents on the dollar. And tell him I'll stand at a glass podium and wear a short skirt,” she adds.
“Veep” season 6 has been scheduled to release on April 16 at 10:30 p.m. EST on HBO. It will be accompanied by another HBO comedy, “Silicon Valley,” which premieres a week later (April 23) at 10:00 p.m. Both the series will be preceded by the final season of “The Leftovers.”
