‘Vikings’ season 4: Bjorn feels 'tortured' after Ragnar’s death, says Alexander Ludwig
“Vikings” season 4 episode 19 will observe the power struggle between Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) sons Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) and Ivar (Alex Hogh Andersen). Ludwig recently revealed that the character is suffering due to his father’s death and feels “tortured” for the longest time. His “ruthless, dark” characteristics will come forth in the upcoming episodes.
After Ragnar’s death, Bjorn has visibly changed a lot. He is emerging as a true warrior. He is confident and he surely knows how to hit the bull’s eye. Hence, he wants to take the lead. All the change that fans have been watching in Bjorn is because of his father’s death. He loved his father more than anything in his life and he now wants to avenge his death and accomplish his dreams.
“Everything that Bjorn does, he does for his father, whether he is alive or not,” said Ludwig. Bjorn didn’t go to England with Ragnar and so for his father’s death, he blames himself. “He will forever be tortured with the thought that had he gone to England with Ragnar, he could have possibly saved his life.”
In the last episode, Bjorn claimed the power in front of his brothers saying that he will give orders and others shall follow. He declared he would lead the troop. However, in “Vikings” season 4 episode 19, Ivar counters him, as revealed in the sneak peak of the episode.
“You are going to see a changed Bjorn. Ragnar’s death changes Bjorn immensely. He becomes more ruthless, dark character,” said Ludwig.
After avenging his father’s death, Bjorn will accomplish his father’s vision of settling in England. “He has got something very important to do, which is avenge the one person he loved more than anything else and work hard to make sure his dream stays alive,” Ludwig says in a video posted by History Canada on Twitter.
“Vikings” season 4 episode 19 will air on Jan.25 at 9PM ET in the US. The show also airs in Australia on SBS One at 8:30PM.
