'Vikings' season 5: Prepare for dark times
There is still a lot of fighting left in “Vikings” season 5, and it appears that Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) will manage to evade death until the very end of the season. A new trailer has been released online, teasing additional footage and storylines.
Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) has taken over Kattegat, but he will not be able to offer Lagertha as a sacrifice to the gods just yet. The queen and her son Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) will seek refuge with King Alfred (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo).
King Alfred will grant Lagertha and the others refuge on one condition- that they help him fight the other Vikings. The Seer (John Kavanagh) warns of dark times ahead, as this new ally helps continue the war.
Bjorn is especially angry and wants to kill Ivar. He will march to Kattegat with a new army, but the ever so cunning Ivar will continue to surprise his brother with his battle tactics. Will Bjorn have to face defeat yet again?
Lagertha is not herself anymore. She will be involved in some of the battles, but her new look teases her mental state, which is not a good sign. Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is still loyal to the queen, and he appears to be the one to suggest she seek refuge with King Alfred.
While the war against Ivar continues, the Saxon storyline will come into focus. King Alfred has to face some troubles of his own. There are internal disturbances that he has to deal with, and it looks like Lagertha will assist the king in dealing with these problems.
The trailer very briefly teases scenes related to Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård). It remains to be seen what new challenges he will face while building a new home with his followers. Floki has been facing problems because of fights for power, while he is attempting to build a peaceful community.
