Miley Cyrus and her raunchy performance with Robin Thicke at the MTV VMAs 2013 left the viewers and celebrity guests feeling "violated" but a man important in Miley's life has spoken up that he is not bothered at all. Dad Billy Ray Cyrus broke his silence over the controversial onstage antics of his 20-year-old daughter and declared that it did not change anything in their relationship.

In an interview with the U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight, Billy Ray Cyrus gave his reaction about Miley's twerking, gyrating and crotch-grabbing performance with "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke on Sunday night. "Of course I'll always be here for Miley. Can't wait to see her when she gets home. She's my little girl, and I'm still her dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change," the 52-year-old father stated to host Nancy O'Dell.

Billy Ray Cyrus was immediately hurled into the spotlight because of his daughter's who-could-ever-forget-that performance. On Monday, the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer sent out a Twitter message that fans certainly felt it was a message about Miley's raunchy performance.

"Thanking God for so many blessings tonight. Continue to pray for world peace. More love... less hate," Mr Cyrus posted on his Twitter account @billyraycyrus. However, Billy Ray clarified that the Twitter post had nothing to do with his daughter and it was about the situation in Syria.

"FYI 'Love Not Hate' Late last night I was watching devastating news out of Syria. Chemical weapons used on innocent children is unacceptable!" Billy Ray added on Tuesday, August 27. Though Billy Ray Cyrus defends and still supports his daughter, almost everyone criticizes what the former Disney star did onstage.

Miley's former TV mum Brooke Shields is one of the celebrities who slammed the "Hannah Montana" star's indecent performance. "I was Hannah Montana's mother. I do not approve. Where did I go wrong? I just want to know who's advising her, and why it's necessary. I feel like it's a bit desperate," actress Brooke Shields declared to "Today" on Monday.

Even the Parent's Television Council agrees with Ms Shields. In a released statement, the group's spokesperson said: "This is unacceptable. MTV continues to sexually exploit young women by promoting acts that incorporate 'twerking' in a nude-colored bikini."
