British crooner Seal has gone on a Twitter rampage in defence of his fellow "The Voice" coach Joel Madden. While the American rocker showed contrition after police found a small amount of marijuana in his hotel room, the older singer was incensed for his friend's behalf. Seal has since apologised for his explosive but unnecessary reaction.

On Sunday night, a cleaner at the Sydney Star casino hotel found less than five grams of marijuana in Joel's room. The police were called, and proceeded to search the room around 10:30 p.m. while the 34-year-old Good Charlotte rocker was present.

It wasn't specified if the cannabis found in Joel's room belonged to him, but he was asked to leave the hotel following the incident.

No charges have been filed since the amount of drugs found wasn't enough to warrant a charge.

Nicole Richie's husband has then recalled the incident on his Tumblr, saying that he appreciated the way the NSW police handled the situation and that he hoped that "this didn't cause too much drama for everyone."

But while Joel all but said sorry about what happened, his colleague wasn't as gracious.

In a series of Twitter tirade that he has since deleted, Seal expressed his fury at how Joel was treated after he had done charity work.

He said that The Star hotel had asked Joel to meet a cancer victim at the hotel before they searched his room.

"homeless shelters, provide time and love for disabled kids, represent at the Logies and not to mention bring hope to aspiring artists... across the nation with his authenticity and heart. Yet having a joint in the privacy of his hotel room is worthy of front page news???

"Way to respect a guest in your country trash media, way to make us feel welcome. Keep it up... sure we'll be back next year. And yes, I say we

"because it's just a matter of time before you gun us all down. Hell, you even it you're own @Delta Goodrem who's a national treasure!!" Seal wrote, referring to their fellow "The Voice" coach.

"It's a shame. I for one will not stand by and watch you attempt to destroy my Brother, you gun one you gun us all! Shame one the Star

"you ask him to meet n greet a cancer victim in your hotel then send police to his room?? Nice... very classy... keep it up Judas. I'm done here.

"can't wait to go home."

Understandably, Twitter followers were none too pleased with his outburst. Seal then deleted the tweets and attempted to offer his apology by explaining his reaction.

"I want to apologise for my rant earlier. Joel is one of my best friends and I was really hurting for him. I want to say I have loved being in Australia, I've loved working on The Voice and with an incredibly talented group of Australian artists. It's been almost 11 weeks away from my kids and me saying 'I can't wait to go home' was me missing being home with them."
