The top 10 artists of The Voice Recap Season 8 faced off last Tuesday in an intense session of voices fighting to be heard. Of the three lined up for possible elimination, the so-called Bottom 3, Rob Taylor and Deanna Johnson were sent home, whereas Joshua Davis was the lucky one to secure his position in the Top 8.

The two contestants eliminated were from Team Xtina and Team Adam respectively. Mentor Christina Aguilera couldn't help but shed tears of her protege. Fans went on a twitter craze trying to save their idols, through The Voice's specialized "Twitter Instant Save" feature.

It all boiled down to song choice, according to Yahoo! News. Rob Taylor performed “(Sittin’ on) the Dock of the Bay”, a lovely number but lacking that needed punch to really get the audience going. Deanna Johnson did justice to "Help Me Make It Through the Night”, and Joshua Davis sang the powerful “I Won’t Back Down”.

Last season Adam Levine led the winning team into the final rounds, but this time around he's down to only one contestant, Davis. The Top 8, according to TVLine, include: Koryn Hawthrone and Sawyer Fredericks from Team Pharrell; Corey Kent White, Meghan Linsey, and Hannah Kirby from Team Blake; and India Carney and Kimberly Nichole from Team Xtina. Team Pharrell's Hawthorne tops the list.

Team Pharrell nailed it with One Tree Hill Gavin DeGraw’s “I Don’t Want to Be,” a performance that echoed all throughout America. The other teams were able to hold their own, and ultimately the Top 8 was comprised of awesome artists that weathered a lot of challenges to get to where they are.

They didn't get there on their own, they were backed up and advised by some of the most prolific singers and producers of the music industry. The night before their performances, Mark Ronson, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Scott Hendricks and Dave Stewart personally attended to the contestants, according to Yahoo! News.

Competition is tight, and with only 8 contestants remaining, the game is on for the next "The Voice" champion.
