‘The Voice’ Season 9 ‘Live Semi-Final Performances’ recap: Ellie Goulding and Blake Shelton set the stage on fire
“The Voice” Season 9 was back with its 24th episode titled “Live Semi-Final Performances” on Monday on NBC. The episode featured some of the most outstanding performances of this season so far that were delivered by the Top 9 contenders of the show.
Contenders from Team Adam, Team Gwen, Team Blake and Team Pharrell hopped on to the stage to prove their mettle.
Team Blake: Barrett Baber, Emily Ann Roberts, Zach Seabaugh
Barrett Baber from Team Adam was the first contender to perform in the 24th episode of “The Voice” Season 9. He sang "Ghost" by Ella Henderson. Blake congratulates Barrett for featuring on the list of top five songs on iTunes.
Next from Blake’s troupe was Zach Seabaugh who performed Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb.” Gwen applauds Zach for the performance and tells him that it was a favorite song of hers.
Emily Ann Roberts was the next contender from Team Blake to perform and she sang Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5.” Emily’s performance helped her win a standing ovation from Pharrell and Blake.
Team Adam: Shelby Brown, Amy Vachal, Jordan Smith
Shelby Brown was the first hopeful from Team Adam and she performed “Even God Must Get the Blues” by Joe Dee Messina. Blake called her amazing as he complimented Shelby for her performance. Adam goes to the extent of saying that she deserves to be in the finals.
Amy Vachal was the next from her team and she performed Bob Dylan’s “To Make You Feel My Love.” Adam said that everyone seated amongst the audience froze and was awestruck by her performance. Next hopeful from Team Adam was Jordan Smith. Smith was the most outstanding performer last week. He chose to perform Queen’s “Somebody to Love.” This week too, he was as perfect as ever and forced Adam to stand on his feet for his performance.
Team Gwen: Jeffery Austin, Braiden Sunshine
Jeffery Austin from Team Gwen performed Cher’s “Believe” in the Monday’s episode of “The Voice.” After the performance, Blake predicted that Jeffery’s performance could feature on the top of the iTunes. Braiden Sunshine was the next to perform and he sang “Amazing Grace” by John Newton. Adam appreciated Braiden’s journey on the show as he is the youngest contender on the show.
Team Pharrell: Madi Davis
Madi Davis is the only contender left on Pharrell’s team and she sang “Big Girls Don’t Cry” by The Four Seasons for “Live Semi-Final Performances.” Pharrell was apparently smitten by the performance and said that she was like an actress while performing on stage.
The 24th episode of “The Voice” had a surprise element as Ellie Goulding adorned the stage and performed “On My Mind.” Blake Shelton also took to stage to perform his new song “Gonna.”
