Tired of the unexpected yet continued snub by the local press, the wife of visual effects artist, Joe Farrell has contacted a number of media companies to let them know that her husband is also nominated by no other accolade than the prestigious and much-coveted award giving body for films, the Academy Awards.

With her background as a former film publicist, it was of no surprise that Aliza wanted her husband, Joe Farrell to enjoy the same recognition the media gave to other Australian nominees, including, A-list actress, Nicole Kidman as Best Actress nominee for her role in Rabbit Hole.

Other nominees who have received wide media coverage after the list was announced were Jacki Weaver, Geoffrey Rush, The King's Speech producer Emile Sherman, animated short film director Shaun Tan, The Social Network editor Kirk Baxter and another visual effects nominee, Iron Man 2's Ben Snow.

What added insult to injury is the reaction from The King's Speech's British-raised director, Tom Hooper who, according to the Australian Associated Press was openly satisfied to be referred to as an ‘Aussie’. Hooper’s mother is an Australian and he has earlier claimed to be proud of his Down Under heritage.

The AAP noted that ALiza introduced her husband to the local Australian media practitioners and told them that the 38-year old Farrell is nominated for his works in Hereafter, a fantasy drama directed by Clint Eastwood and featuring another A-list actor, Matt Damon.

Through his wife, it was known that Farrell is now working at a visual effects house in Los Angeles, called Scanline VFX, one of the companies that has worked for the Eastwood project.

Asked why he’s been quiet all this time, Joe Farrell simply said: "I guess I am a slip through the crack kind of person."

But it turned out that this is not even Farrell’s big project with the veteran director/ actor. The Australian nominee has also worked for Eastwood in Gran Torino and Flags Of Our Fathers.
