'The Walking Dead': Negan is an 'atomic bomb' says Robert Kirkman, 'show will never be the same'
“The Walking Dead” executive producer Robert Kirkman teased some information about the new villain Negan. He revealed that the TV series will “never be the same” after his arrival.
Powerful characters like The Governor (David Morrissey) and Gareth (Andrew J. West) have kept the TV series interesting so far. But, the show is all set to introduce a new villainous character who is set to change things for the worse on the show.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kirkman described the new villain character Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as an “atomic bomb.” The producer pointed out that there have been a few “shake-ups” on the show before, but warned the audience that the new villain may shock them even more. “So buckle up, I guess?” he joked.
The executive producer described Negan as an “intellectual” and a “capable leader” who has kept his group alive for just as long as Rick (Andrew Lincoln) has. The only problem with the character is that he has “morality dial a few clicks away from Rick toward the darker aspects of his personality.”
The next few episodes of “The Walking Dead” will focus on what happens when the two groups interact with each other. “This is a much different group than they’ve ever encountered. The Saviors are a group they’re not really prepared for,” Kirkman teased.
Five seasons of the TV series have already aired and the show is currently in the middle of its sixth season. The show has been renewed for Season 7, which is scheduled to air in October.
The next part of “The Walking Dead” Season 6 will air on Feb. 14. The cast members of the show include Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier), Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Steven Yeun (Glenn Rhee), Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene) and Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha Williams).
