Fans of the hit AMC series “The Walking Dead” will be happy with the latest news. The network has confirmed that the series will have a seventh season.

AMC made the announcement on Friday, Oct. 30, according to TV Line, which stated that both “The Walking Dead” and “Talking Dead” have been renewed for another season. In a statement released by AMC President Charlie Collier, he first joked about having a “Magic 8-Ball” during the team's many internal meetings to help them decide how to proceed with the season renewal.

“Thank goodness someone had a Magic 8-Ball with them in our many long internal meetings about these renewals,” he stated. “When, on the third shake, ‘without a doubt’ filled the murky blue screen, we knew we had to proceed with new seasons of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead.”

The AMC president then went on to confirm that the network will push through with Season 7 for “The Walking Dead,” along with “Talking Dead.” Collier even mentioned in the statement that they were “proud” to share these “unique shows” with the fans, whom he described as “so passionate, communicative and engaged.”

“We are grateful…” he continued. “And continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible. The result: More Walking and Talking. Hooray.”

Meanwhile, Season 6 of “The Walking Dead” is becoming more exciting and getting more attention, as evidenced by the rise in its ratings, Comic Book reports. For the second straight week, “The Walking Dead” Season 6 posted higher ratings, with a 1 percent increase from the previous week. The 90-minute extended fourth episode, titled “He’s Not Here,” garnered 13.3 million total viewers and a 6.8 percent rating. Of the 13.3 million viewers, 8.6 million belonged to the key age demographic group of 18 to 49.

The rise in the show's ratings is attributed to the shocking “death” of Glenn (Steven Yeun), one of the major characters in “The Walking Dead.” In a previous interview, showrunner Scott Gimple was “ambiguous” over Glenn’s “demise” in episode 3. Viewers were left wondering whether the character’s death was real or if Glenn was somehow saved from the zombie attack by the way Nicholas’ (Michael Traynor) dead body landed on top of him.

Fans would have to continue tuning in to “The Walking Dead” to learn more about Glenn’s fate.

“The Walking Dead” Season 6 airs every Sunday in the U.S. on AMC and every Monday in Australia on Foxtel’s FX channel.
