‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Episode 10 review: Rick and Daryl run into Jesus; Michonne and Rick make out
“The Walking Dead” never fails to surprise and the recently aired Episode 10, “The Next World,” has its share of surprises.
[Spoiler Alert] The bromance between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) blossomed, a new character Jesus (Tom Payne) was introduced and then there was the bombshell, Rick and Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) hook up.
According to Forbes, the Jesus, Rick and Daryl storyline was the meat of the episode, and the hook up between Rick and Michonne the dessert. Jessie’s (Alexandra Breckenridge) death last week has made this hook up possible. Apparently, Michonne is a way better fit for Rick than Jessie.
In “The Walking Dead” “The Next World” episode, fans see Alexandria rebuilt, repaired and restored. The episode was light-hearted where viewers got the chance to breathe easily. The episode also had funny moments because of the character Jesus that the viewers loved.
When Rick and Daryl go out in search of supplies, they come across a truck full of goodies. After spotting the truck, the two decide to look out for more supplies. Next they come across an overturned vending machine. Daryl thinks of taking some soda for Denise (Merritt Wever). In a previous awkward scene, Denise had actually asked Daryl to bring sodas.
When the two readies to tip the heavy machine, Jesus runs into Rick from behind, claiming he is running from the dead. Daryl doesn’t like him at all, though Rick starts asking him questions. Jesus soon picks their pockets, grabs the keys to the truck and sets off some fire crackers to distract Daryl and Rick. He runs away with the truck and the goods.
Rick and Daryl chase him and bind him on the side of the road. However, Jesus somehow manages to climb on top of the truck. The two take the truck to check out other potential sites when walkers come chasing. Jesus proves he is a good guy when he points the gun at Daryl and shoots a walker just behind him. The truck slides into a pond and sinks.
Elsewhere, Michonne follows Spencer (Austin Nichols) out in the woods. Spencer is looking for his mother who has turned into a zombie. Spencer believes that living family members should kill their zombified loved ones. Carl (Chandler Riggs) and Enid (Katelyn Nacon) spot Spencer’s undead mother. Spencer gets his wish fulfilled and buries his mother.
Rick and Michonne, who have been living together all this while, make out, and while the two sleeps peacefully next to each other, Jesus secretly sneaks into Rick’s bedroom. Just before the credits roll, Jesus is heard saying, “Rick, we really need to talk.”
"The Walking Dead" airs on Foxtel on Mondays, 1:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
