'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers: Jeffrey Dean Morgan clarifies previous statement on the season premiere's killings
Earlier this month, “The Walking Dead” actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan had an interview that sent fans of the franchise into a frenzy, as it disclosed that his character, Negan, would kill more than one person in the season 7 premiere. Now the actor has clarified his statement, which could change the season as it had been previously imagined.
The initial interview was with Den Of Geek. “Negan’s not just going to kill one person in [the premiere],” the publication quoted Morga saying. “He’s not afraid of bashing in skulls.” And because there were previous reports that the cast came in late, crying and throwing their scripts when episode 1 was to be shot, it all seemed to fit together.
However, the actor set everything straight when he sat down with Variety Latino. “That’s not what I said,” Morgan told the publication. He went on to discuss that the interpretation on his statement was wrong and that he simply meant that in the entire world of “The Walking Dead,” Negan had killed more than one person.
“Negan does kill a lot of people in the next couple of years. Before we even meet him he’s killed a lot of people,” he said. “Negan’s been around for a long time.”
The publication then pressed regarding the current fan theory that Rick Grimes, who is portrayed by actor Andrew Lincoln, would be on the receiving end of Negan’s blows. The theory stems from the season 7 teaser of “The Walking Dead,” which shows Rick’s face splattered with blood.
Unfortunately, Morgan did not disclose much on this particular issue. ““It could be splatter,” he coyly said. “I could’ve slapped him. I could’ve spit on him.” The actor then went on to say that fans would have to tune in to the premiere in order to really figure things out.
