The Wanted Challenges One Direction to Settle Differences Inside a Boxing Ring
The heat continues and the tension gets more intensified between British boy bands The Wanted and One Direction. Coming from opposite directions, The Wanted seems to embrace more their bad boy image as they challenged the good guys and “squeaky-clean” One Direction noting two boy bands must end their differences through boxing match.
Max George and Jay McGuiness from The Wanted say the five-on-five boxing contest with One Direction would be one best way to raise funds for a good cause. Plus, it will be good for their reality television show that had its premiere on E! last June 2, 2013.
“We would like a boxing match — them against us,” George was quoted as telling The New York Daily News. “It would be brilliant for TV and I have no problem with it at all.”
George said in the interview that instead of barking at each other through social media, the two boy bands should better box it up in the ring and for their millions of followers to see. Just to raise funds, he quipped.
“They’ve got 12 million followers on Twitter and I get that they have an army of kids,” George said. “But instead of doing that if they have got an issue, why don’t we actually do something financially — like make some money for a charity, and blow off some steam in a boxing ring.
He noted however that it will be just to be able generate income for charity, promising that no one will be “hurt.”
“I don’t think there is a better idea other than that I don’t want anyone to get savagely hurt,” George said.
The tension between One Direction and The Wanted began when the former boasted that it had generated “bigger hits and sales worldwide,” said NY Daily News.
Apparently unhappy with what they heard, The Wanted wanted, pardon the pun, to prove One Direction Wrong. And the group also has an ace up their sleeves.
The NY Daily News: “They’ve scored several top 20 hits and their 2012 anthem “Glad You Came” became the highest-charting single of all time by a U.K. boy band.”
And to end the tension and prove it’s just a friendly competition, The Wanted insisted that they settle any issue inside the boxing ring.
One Direction has not responded to the challenge as of writing.
