'Warcraft' Director Calls The Movie ‘Unique’ And ‘Something Special’
Duncan Jones, the director of “Warcraft,” chatted about the movie online with some of the fans. The director gave hints on the CGI in the movie and considered the ideas given by some of the fans. The movie has been completed and is currently in the post-production phase.
“Warcraft” will tell the story of an Orc horde that will come into conflict with the Human Alliance. Talking about the movie on his official Twitter page, Duncan Jones said that the movie is “pretty unique” even though it is based on the popular video game.
The director also said that the producers ensured that the movie appeals to a broader range of audience. He said that the producers are working towards making people who don’t play the game aware that “Warcraft” is a movie that they would “genuinely want to see.”
Duncan Jones admitted that game to film adaptations have had a “checkered past.” However, he was confident about his upcoming movie, which he called “something special.” The director also said that he was “proud of this beast.”
Replying to a question by a fan about the extent of live action vs. CGI in the movie, the director said that the movie would “fit somewhere between "Planet of the Apes," "Fellowship of the Ring" and "Avatar.” The producers have still not released a teaser trailer of the upcoming movie. When one of the fans asked about when the producers are going to show something, Duncan Jones quoted John Carmack and said “When it's done!”
The director also said that he had pitched for two parallel trailers, each focusing on one of the factions in the movie. “Warcraft” will be telling the story from both the Orc Horde’s point of view as well as the Human Alliance point of view.
The Orc Chief Durotan of the Frostwolf Clan and Anduin Lothar of the Human Alliance will be featuring in “Warcraft.” Both characters are popular in the video game franchise. The movie is slated to be released on March 11, 2015 in the U.S. and UK. The release date information for Australia has not been revealed yet by the producers.
