Watch Rafael Nadal’s reaction on news that Australian Bernard Tomic is joining his Indian Aces IPTL team [Video]
When Indian professional tennis player Rohan Bopanna told Rafael Nadal that Australian Bernard Tomic will be joining his International Premier Tennis League’s (IPTL) Indian Aces team, the Spanish tennis star’s reaction was priceless. The video of Nadal’s amusing reaction to his Australian replacement had quickly gone viral online and had been reported on various sports news websites.
In the video, Bopanna said that “Tomic is coming” when Nadal asked him if the Indian Aces team will remain the same until the end of the tournament. Seeming baffled and surprised, Nadal grinned and put both hands on his head when he learned that Australia’s top-ranked tennis player will be the new addition to the Indian Aces.
“Close the bar down during the night,” Nadal said. Apparently, Nadal must’ve heard about Tomic’s crazy party antics and reckoned it would be appropriate to start hiding the liquor bottles and ensure that all the bars are closed during the Australian’s stint in town.
Nadal played his last match in the IPTL event in New Delhi with two remaining more legs in the tournament to be staged in Dubai and in Singapore. The Australian will replace Nadal and make his debut in the UAE capital against the Legendari Japan Warriors on Monday.
In October, it has been reported that Tomic will not take part in the second season of the IPTL so that he could use the off-season to train and improve his game in his quest to further move up the world rankings. Tomic is the highest-ranked Australian tennis player, at World No. 18, followed by Nick Kyrgios at World No. 30. Kyrgios is also playing at the IPTL, representing the Singapore Slammers.
