The fight between UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and interim champ Conor McGregor on Dec. 12 at UFC 194 will not be short of action and record-breaking feats.

According to Matt Connolly of Forbes, the projected pay-per-view buys for UFC 194 could reach 1.4 million and the gate attendance is estimated around $9 million. Connolly also noted that McGregor's earnings could reach $300,000 base plus $250,000 win bonus and an additional $3-$5 per PPV buy, while Aldo could earn $250,000 win bonus on top of $500,000 base.

UFC President Dana White told the Sportsmail that UFC 194 is the “biggest gate” the company has ever done in the MGM Grand.

“The metrics are off the chart,” White added. “I’m looking to break some records.”

The UFC 129 in Toronto headlined by Georges St-Pierre still holds the overall record at $12.1 million. Connolly argued that the closest range UFC 194 could get is at “1.3-1.5 million buys,” putting the event behind UFC 193 in Melbourne, which featured Ronda Rousey and women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm.

Meanwhile, a win for McGregor would be more favourable for UFC than Aldo unifying the titles belts, added Connolly.

“The fight itself is hugely important to the UFC’s future, as a favorable outcome for White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta (a McGregor win) would pay huge dividends for the company’s brand in 2016, particularly in Europe,” Connolly disclosed. “On the flip side, an Aldo victory would force the company to invest more into the return of light-heavyweight king Jon Jones and other young champions.”

Prediction

McGregor has been playing mind games with Aldo ever since their matchup at UFC 189 in July was postponed, with the latter withdrawing from the fight due to a rib-injury. However, Aldo appears to be focused on his game plan although “Scarface,” unbeaten for 10 years, has not been in any action since his victory over Chad Mendes at UFC 179.

McGregor looks to be in optimal shape and ready to settle the score with Aldo, but the Brazilian featherweight still has the advantage in terms of overall skills.
