ParkLife Metro Consortium’s driverless metro is set to transform Australia’s sustainable mobility sector

RATP Dev will be exclusive Operations & Maintenance contractor for the driverless Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport (WSA) project, as part of the Parklife Metro consortium. The project aims to deliver a world-class metro system and provide safe, comfortable, and reliable passenger transport for Sydney’s visitors and residents. The contract marks the company’s first in Australia.

The Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport line is a city-shaping project which will provide major economic stimulus and boost regional development for Sydney. Given the seamless integration with the broader Sydney rail network, RATP Dev’s operation and maintenance of the line will support new communities, generate thousands of jobs during delivery and beyond, and is set to partner with local businesses to boost the local economy.

RATP Dev will strive to ensure sustainable and inclusive development to support the community. Mehdi Sinaceur, Deputy CEO of RATP Dev, said in a statement: “Working closely with our partners in the Parklife Metro consortium, RATP Dev is bringing its global driverless metro experience and resources to Australia. The Parklife Metro consortium is comprised of RATP Dev, Plenary Group, Siemens Mobility, and Webuild. The consortium aims revolutionise the transport spine for Western Sydney by connecting the new International Airport and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis to the rest of the Greater Sydney.

The project will allow RATP Dev to bring its world-class expertise in mass-transit rail networks to Australia for the first time, setting a new standard for the region’s public transport. The project is expected to be completed and operational when Western Sydney International opens for passenger services.
