‘Westworld’ showrunners drop major hints on season 2’s plot
“Westworld” season 2 is expected to drop more revelations than the first season. Showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have teased fans about what’s to come in the upcoming season, saying “Westworld” season 2 will reveal more about how the hosts work and how they are powered.
Nolan has assured fans that the sophomore run of the series will tell more about the hosts. “Their construction and their power source is something we’re really going to get into during season 2,” Nolan said.
In “Westworld” season 1, fans have learned that the hosts do not suffer brain death. Although they look like human beings, their brains do not require oxygen but are as fragile as humans’.
There are benefits and drawbacks in being a host. One of the privileges that they enjoy is that they could not be killed the same way as humans. When they die, they can be repaired and brought back to life. They can also decide on their own though as dictated by their default personality.
“Westworld” season 2 is expected to reveal more benefits and disadvantages of hosts. Nolan has assured that next season, they will explore more nuts and bolts of what the hosts are.
Nolan went on to share that there are several things that they have not touched in “Westworld” season 1. “We’re now currently breaking the second season,” Nolan had said during the New York Comic Con panel.
Another great news is that some “Westworld” season 1 cast are sure to return next season. One of them is Ed Harris (Man in Black) who has previously confirmed that he will be back to reprise his role in the second season of “Westworld.”
“I was just talking to Jonah Nolan last night ... and yeah, they’re doing another season. They’re going to do 10 more episodes, and I will be involved,” Harris revealed through BBC Radio 4.
Nolan and Joy have hinted that the demise of Hopkin’s character in “Westworld” season 1 may not actually be the end of the actor in the series."I think with this show, you want to assume nothing," Nolan told the Hollywood Reporter.
As Dr Robert Ford (Sir Anthony Hopkins) is likely to be back next season, fans theorise about how he will return. A Reddit user theorised that he may actually be a host. Fans may may recall that he was shot by robotic host Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) through the skull. There is no official word yet on how the host creator might return.
Official air date for “Westworld” season 2 is yet to be announced. Foxtel has aired “Westworld” season 1 in Australia.
