‘Westworld’ star Anthony Hopkins gets real about acting
“Westworld” season 2 is set to air in 2018 and it is expected to see the return of Anthony Hopkins (Dr Ford). Although the actor’s comeback is not officially confirmed yet, some fans are keeping their hopes up that Hopkins will be back, regardless if he will return as a host or as a human. Previously, the actor has opened up about what he thinks of his acting, saying he is paranoid that fans might not be impressed by his performances.
In a 2016 interview with Mirror, Hopkins admitted that he fears he is not good at acting and that he is still uncertain about his stand in Hollywood. But the actor is not one who would take his work too seriously as he thinks he hits the peak of his career when he started embracing a happy go lucky approach towards work.
“I will be very honest I suppose I suffer from a bit of paranoia and I never really think anyone likes me,” Hopkins said. He confessed that he would always feel surprised whenever someone would approach him and tell him that they like what he does. Hopkins said he is expecting the worse all the time.
Having a dual citizenship, US and British, the actor said his way of thinking about his acting is actually a British mentality. He explained that in Australia, it is what people call the tall poppy syndrome. But he has also clarified that it was never his intent to achieve perfection.
His “Westworld” co-star, Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores), has nothing but praises for Hopkins. She said she is blown away by his acting. “Of course, we all know Anthony Hopkins is one of the greatest performers of our time, but seeing him in person and seeing those subtleties and seeing them change every take was just like watching Da Vinci paint,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. Wood said Hopkins would remind him why she loves what she does.
The actor has also starred in several films like “The Mask of Zorro,” “The Bounty,” “Meet Joe Black” and “The World's Fastest Indian” among others. In 1992, the actor has won Best Actor in a Leading Role for “The Silence of the Lambs.” He also grabbed Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Special for “The Bunker.”
In 2016, fans have seen him portray Dr Ford in the HBO television series, “Westworld.” Official air date for “Westworld” season 2 is yet to be announced. Foxtel airs the show in Australia.
