Who would ever think that this simple and seemingly shy 36-year-old actor will be the one to reign over the list of People this year having beaten other gorgeous looking celebrities like Liam Hemsworth, Tim McGraw and a lot more?

The 2011 list of People's popular Sexiest Men Alive category done yearly makes Bradley Cooper on top of everyone else. He has beaten the liking of Tim McGraw, Idris Elba, Liam Hemsworth and even Ryan Gosling amongst other sexy men in the industry.

So Who Is Bradley Cooper?

Bradley Cooper is a film, theatre and television actor who became popular with movies like 'Limitless,' 'The A-Team,' and 'Hangover.' Not many know that he started his professional acting stint with the hit series 'Sex and the City' way back in 1999.

One would only remember his face being familiar landing the supporting roles for most of his career but it was only in 2009 when he garnered a lot of attention with 'The Hangover.'

By 2011, he had the privilege to finally star as lead for 'Limitless' that is a film adaptation of the book 'The Dark Fields.' He is currently working on a new film and into another film adaptation projects.

He and actress Renee Zellwegger spent a year together in a relationship and it was just recent that he was also linked to recently separated Jennifer Lopez.

Why He Got All Those Votes

The election of Cooper into the number one spot took a lot more of thinking than just considering who is smokin' hot in the looks. His close relationship with his mother, his genuine humility and his fluency in French are the things that made him a total package of a sexy guy according to the staff behind People.

But of course, no one cannot miss those twinkling and soft blue eyes, chiselled jaw, and great abs and arms as beautiful as that of other actors like Ryan Gosling.

"He's more than just a good-looking guy. This guy speaks fluent French, he cooks... he rides a motorcycle, went to Georgetown, loves his mommy a lot and still opens the door for women," shares Alexis Chiu, senior writer of People magazine.

Despite the ongoing protests of many fans who think that Ryan Gosling is the one who needs to be on the top spot, Cooper still finds it overwhelmingly cool on his being chosen instead.

With all humility, he shared that he does not find himself at all as someone who can pass for a model. "I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying," the down-to-earth actor shared.

"The first thing I thought of [when I was named Sexiest Man Alive] was, 'My Mother is going to be so happy."
