Why Prince William says ‘no’ to prenup
The palace’s Royal aides have maintained that Prince William was never advised pre-nuptial agreement. The Prince however had ‘refused to sign one’.
Senior royal sources have confirmed that no prenuptial agreement was drawn up before the Royal Wedding on April 29 and it was all Prince William’s idea.
According to The Daily Mail, the Prince and now the Duke of Cambridge, the palace’s Royal aides have maintained that Prince William was never advised pre-nuptial agreement. The Prince however had ‘refused to sign one’.
‘For him to refuse, it would’ve had to have been suggested to him by someone and it was not,’ source described by The Daily Mail as ‘well-placed in the palace’ was quoted as saying by the news website. ‘There is no prenuptial agreement in place for this wedding.’
The idea of a prenuptial agreement had reverberated prior to the wedding at Westminster Abbey since prenups have become binding in English laws very recently.
Divorce lawyers in Great Britain said The Daily Mail had asserted that an agreement was ‘practical’ to secure Prince William’s wealth.
The Prince and England’s future King is earning from his day job as a Flight Lieutenant in the RAF of an estimated £37,170 a year. But the Duke of Cambridge is worth millions of pounds. He was reportedly left £6.5million by his mother Princess Diana and his assets are estimated to have increased since his mother’s death in 1997.
The Prince has reportedly inherited part of the Mother Queen’s property which was distributed to trust funds eight years before her death.
With his recorded inheritance and his day-job salary, Prince William has however not burdened of his household’s expenses as they are being undertaken by Prince Charles.
The Daily Mail noted that Prince Charles has declared spending £1.6million on personal expenses for himself, his wife and his sons, including the costs of running William’s household.
While Prince William’s inheritance has continued to earn through the years, his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, Duchess Catherine has no official earnings beginning January this year when she quit her job to prepare for the wedding.
Duchess Catherine used to work for her parent’s online party supplies company and she used to punch in at a retailer called, “Jigsaw” before that.
A prenup between the newly married couple have generated a buzz also when divorce among the Royals have been apparent in the recent years.
