Wild Dog, Dinah Drake to continue saving Star City with Oliver Queen in ‘Arrow’ season 6
Two of Oliver Queen’s protégées will spend more time with the team in “Arrow” season 6. Both Rick Gonzalez and Juliana Harkavy have been promoted to series regular.
Gonzalez (Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog) joined The CW superhero series in its current season. Wild Dog is a reckless but street-smart vigilante. This made Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) decide to take him under his wing.
Rene killed a criminal in defense of his family before he became a vigilante. This led to his wife's death and his daughter being placed in a foster care after the community deemed him dangerous.
Harkavy (Dinah Drake), on the other hand, was introduced midseason as metahuman Black Canary after Laurel Lance's (Katie Cassidy) death. After the particle accelerator explosion in Central City, in which she was a police detective, she acquired an ability to produce sonic waves with her scream, much like the Black Canary's ability.
She uses her power to hunt down the leader of the drug ring to avenge her partner’s murder. Aside from secretly working with Team Arrow, Dinah also landed a job in the Star City Police Department.
The official “Arrow” Twitter account has announced the promotion of Gonzales and Harkavy. Meanwhile, Cassidy was earlier confirmed to return to the series but not as Black Canary. The actress will reprise her role as Laure’s villainous doppelgänger Black Siren from Earth-2.
“Arrow” season 5 is currently on a three-week hiatus. It will return on April 26 with the episode titled "Dangerous Liaisons."
In the episode, Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) will have to face the truth behind her breakup with Oliver, and it is not about distrust. The promo for the episode shows Oliver urging Felicity to stop whatever she is planning when she expresses her frustration about the team pinning down Adrian Chase, a.k.a. Prometheus.
"Dangerous Liasons" will be followed by “Underneath,” in which the former lovers will have no choice but to talk about what happened in their relationship. They will be trapped in the bunker together in the forthcoming episode.
“This is definitely an examination of the state of their breakup. It comes out of the events of 519 [‘Dangerous Liaisons’] and, quite frankly, all the other episodes that led up to it. Something happens in 519 that really tees up this conversation,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim Guggenheim earlier told TV Line.
“Arrow” season 5 airs every Wednesdays at 8/7c on the CW. It also airs on Foxtel in Australia.
