'Winds of Winter': How much has the show spoiled the book and what surprises to expect; Fan theories
Even before the premiere of “Game of Thrones” Season 6, there was a lot of speculation about the show revealing spoilers from “Winds of Winter.” Now the fans have theories about just how much the TV series has spoiled the book.
[Spoiler alert]
Theories posted on Reddit suggest that some of the major events in the TV series are in fact spoilers of the book. So, the fans can expect to read about Jon Snow coming back, with Melisandre somehow involved in the resurrection, there will be confirmation of Jon being a Targaryen and he will lead the north as either the new king or as a regent, the Gravedigger will be revealed to be Sandor Clegane, Arya will travel to Westeroes, Hodor will sadly die, Shireen will be burned, Daenerys’ army will win the second siege of Meereen, Bran will leave the cave of the Three-eyed Raven and finally the Children of the Forest will be revealed to be the creators of the White Walkers.
As far as deaths in “Winds of Winter” are concerned, Stannis is expected to not make it out alive after the battle against the Boltons, however, the theory suggests that this is less likely. Tommen and Myrcella will die. With the direction of the main storyline, it seems Aegon is not so important, so his death is also possible.
In King’s Landing, the death of the Faith Militants and all of Cersei’s enemies through Wild Fire is something that the producers thought of, and so it may not be featured in the book. According to the theory, George R. R. Martin may take a different route in this storyline and the fans may be in for some interesting surprises.
No matter what route “Winds of Winter” takes, the fate of all the major characters may be the same as the TV series. What will surely be different, according to the fan theory, is the journey of smaller characters like Bronn.
