The Woman Behind Justin Bieber Paternity Claim
Mariah Yeater claims Justin Bieber got her pregnant a year ago backstage at one of his concerts in Los Angeles.
Naturally, Bieber would deny these accusations. "It is sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claims. We will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations," said PR rep Matt Hiltzik.
The bigger question is, who exactly is this Mariah Yeater?
Yeater, now 20, obtained front row seat tickets to the Los Angeles concert while she was on food stamps. She was chosen from the crowd by security to meet the Biebs backstage, where she says they had sex.
She filed to seek proof and support from the singer for her son, Tristyn Anthony Markhouse Yeater, according to court documents. The child's birth certificate enlists no father yet.
The suit demands Bieber "undergo a paternity test to scientifically confirm that he is in fact the father of my baby" and "provide adequate support for my baby."
The baby mama also appears to be marginalized. She has not graduated college and lists 11th grade as her highest level of education. She has been unemployed since March 15 and reports an average paycheck of $125, plus public assistance of $500 a month.
She also has neither an investment income or self-employment. The birth of her son on July 6 cost around $2,500, which probably helped push her to sue.
But this action could turn the tables against Yeater herself.
She may have just admitted that she is a statutory rapist, seeing that the teen heartthrob was only 16 at the time, while she was 19.
Yeater could also face the music if her claim turns out to be all made up.
Entertainment defamation attorney Mitchell Langberg explains, "If Ms. Yeater is making up these allegations and Justin Bieber is able to prove that in court by winning the case that she has filed, she may be liable for malicious prosecution under California law."
