Woods regrets spitting in Dubai, issues apology
Woods took to Twitter and sends his apology over spitting incident in Dubai
Tiger Woods has issued an apology on his Twitter account, following the spitting incident he was fined for, by the European Tour early this week.
“The Euro Tour is right - - it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better,” Woods was quoted as saying by The Associated Press.
The spitting incident was spotted by television cameras covering the Dubai tournament. A commentator for Britain’s Sky Sports , Ewen Murray was cited by AP after seeing Woods spit on the second tee of the second round of the play, as saying, that it was ‘one of the ugliest things you will ever see on a golf course.”
Not only was it ugly. It was also prohibited, prompting Euro Tour to penalize Woods. According to AP, no details of the amount of fine was released but the spitting incident, considered a minor breach, could be fined between $400 and $16,000.
Cited by AP, the tour’s code of conduct says that a member player ‘voluntarily submits himself to standards of behavior and ethical conduct beyond those required of ordinary golfers and members of the public.”
Tiger Woods, now ranked No. 3, knew better. And he knows it.
“Just wasn’t thinking and want to say I’m sorry.”
