World's only commercial spaceport gets a facelift to offer visitors a better outer space experience
“Earth’s ultimate space venue,” as the tagline says, has taken a new meaning with the launch of a new venue and event brand – Gateway to Space – at the world’s first and only commercial spaceport, Spaceport America.
The new venue and event team at Spaceport America seeks to leverage the world’s first purpose-built, commercial spaceport. It offers location scouts as well as experiential and event marketers “endless possibilities.”
People can use the new venue for a range of events, including product launches, corporate retreats, press events, commercial photo shoots, film production, film screenings, racing events, sporting events, aviation events, drone races, art events, dream weddings, educational events and conferences. For this purpose, Spaceport America has partnered with expert vendors across multiple disciplines.
The futuristic spaceport, located along New Mexico’s national historic trail – the El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro – offers an exceptional view from the air while being barely visible from the road. Spread over 6,000 square miles, Spaceport America and its Gateway to Space exude an exciting feel of the outer space and offer a voyage of discovery into the unknown.
"The world's first purpose-built, commercial spaceport with its rugged desert mountain backdrop and clear star-studded skies help to create a seemingly surreal experience in the land where the old frontier meets the new," says Spaceport America CEO Christine Anderson. "We can assure you it is real and will leave your participants with an authentic experience unlike any other,” he added.
Spaceport America has been the location of many movies set in the outer space. Most recently, it was used to capture the opening sequences of the new STX motion picture, “The Space Between Us.”
"The ambitions of our story take us from Earth to Mars and back, and the Spaceport America operations team made filming there a dream. Truth be told, it was actually a dream of mine over the last four years to capture the stunning visuals of Spaceport. We're honored to be the first major motion picture to film on this location,” said the movie’s producer Richard B. Lewis in a press release.
