WWE Royal Rumble 2017 date, match card, TV schedule, predictions
The 30th annual WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view will emanate from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on January 29. The event is dubbed by the sports entertainment firm as "the first stop to WrestleMania".
The arena, 65,000-seat, multi-purpose facility, will host arguably the most stacked card in the 30-year history of WWE's January PPV. The stadium had previously hosted the 1997 Royal Rumble which has attended by a little over 60,000 fans. According to several reports, the 2017 event will set a new attendance record.
The main event match, the traditional 30-man battle royal, will feature the likes of The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Bill Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Braun Strowman, Baron Corbin and Seth Rollins. The winner of the Royal Rumble match will be fast-tracked into the main event of WrestleMania 33 on April 2.
Besides the battle royal, the other main events on the card feature a WWE championship match between champion AJ Styles and John Cena, besides a WWE Universal championship match between champion Kevin Owens and challenger Roman Reigns. Also, Charlotte will defend her Women's championship against Bayley.
