‘The X Factor Australia’ Eliminates THIRD D3GREE, Announces Top 3 For Finals [VIDEOS]
“The X Factor Australia” has left another judge without an act. An emotional Natalie Bassingthwaighte was devastated after her last remaining act THIRD D3GREE was eliminated on a dreadlock decision on Monday night.
The trio act – Kelebek, Jacinta Gulisano, and Jordan Rodrigues – missed out on going to the finals next week after getting the lowest number of votes from their performance on Sunday’s live show, which means Taylor Henderson, the other act with low public votes, has made it to the top three with season favourites Dami Im and Jai Waetford.
It seems that third time being on the bottom three is the limit for all “X Factor” contestants this season. Like group act JTR and soloist Jiordan Tolli before them, THIRD D3GREE has been eliminated after landing at the dreaded category.
For Taylor, though, it was only his first time.
“The reason why I’m upset is that I really want the country to hear your song. I really want them to hear your winner single because it’s unreal, and you deserve that,” Natalie held back tears as she picked the trio to continue to the next round.
Unfortunately, the judges weren’t able to come up with a decision, with Ronan and Natalie both supporting their own acts (Taylor and THIRD D3GREE respectively), while Dannii Minogue backing up the group act. It was up to Redfoo, who was also left without a contestant to guide after Jiordan was sent home over THIRD D3GREE last week, to either send Taylor home or send the vote to a deadlock.
He let the Australian viewers decide.
“Sometimes I do things I don’t even know why I’m doing,” Foo explained his decision to back up Taylor to go to the finals.
THIRD D3GREE didn’t audition for the show as a group. They were individuals who were hoping to get a shot at fame with the help of the Channel 7 talent show. However, the judges saw Kelebek, Jordan, and Jacinta as a unit rather than soloists, thus they were assembled and renamed.
And while they were great as individual performers, as a group they were degrees better. They were able to stand out from their peers, thanks to the harmony that they created during every performance. While their fellow contestants tried to impress with their ballads, they wowed the judges and the audience with their live, upbeat performances.
As their mentor Natalie said, they were different.
The grand final on October 27 and 28 will see Taylor, Jai, and Dami competing for the “X Factor” title, with international powerhouse celebrities Guy Sebastian, Katy Perry, and One Direction helping bring in the ratings.
