“X-Men: Apocalypse” Casts Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan As Young Jean Grey, Storm, and Cyclops: Fans Happy
Sophie Turner, or better known as Sansa Stark of the “Game Of Thrones” is set to play Jean Grey in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Alexandra Shipp and Tye Sheridan would also join the cast as young Storm and Cyclops.
The highly anticipated movie’s director Bryan Singer himself made the announcement that the search for the young actors to play young Jean Grey, Storm and Cyclops is over. “X-Men: Apocalypse.” On Thursday, director Bryan Singer announced on his Twitter account that he already has the the actors that would play these younger mutants. Among the lineup is Sophie Turner, who is widely known as Sansa Stark of the hit HBO TV series, “Game of Thrones.” At the same time, Tye Sheridan would play young Cyclops while Alexandra Shipp would play young Storm. Turner retweeted the director’s message, and added an “OMG” to express her excitement over her new role.
She was not the only one excited. Her fans went wild with the announcement as well, with the majority expressing their approval of the director’s choice. Express UK reports that fans tweeted their reactions to the news, saying that seeing Sophie Turner joins the cast of the “X-Men: Apolaypse” is a dream come true.
According to the Den of Geek, if “X-Men: Apocalypse” does well in theatres, the three young actors could expect to careers to take off for at least a decade. The site also reported that Sophie Turner did not get the role easily as she had to best other young and capable actresses such as Chloe Grace Moretz, Elle Fanning, Saoirse Ronan, and Hailee Steinfeld for the part of Jean.
As it stands, it is still not known how big of a role Sophie Turner would have as Jean Grey on the 2016 “X-Men” film. The story would still revolve around the chracaters of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, who are playing Professor Charles Xavier, Magneto and Mystique respectively. Fans could expect the 2016 “X-Men” film to be the most exciting of all “X-Men” movies shown to date. In his early interviews, Singer claimed that there would be “disaster movie imagery” and that the movie would be even bigger than “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
